Royal Station HotelNice hotel in excellent location. We had two rooms, one of them was very hot inside for the duration of the stay with no sign of any air conditioning. Other than this the rooms were both excellent.

Lovely period building in need of renovations

This hotel was well located next to the station and the major conference centre. While the general interior was a little on the faded side, the rooms had been renovated with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. I would stay again.

Definately stay againI used this hotle for a weekend in Newcastle , and i only live 30 mins drive outside but it was cheaper and more convenient than taxis, its a old style hotel with a massice winding staircase and victorian tiles, and chandeleer , my room was a single on the top floor, some off the corridor decor looked as if it had a hard life , but the bathroom and bedding was very modern and very clean, i slept well , but did not eat either a meal or breakfast at hotel or use gym, pool, so i cannot comment on this but i would definately stay again !

There's a vague air of forgotten grandness about this hotel. As if, sometime in the past, it had been a rather swish place. As it is it is perfectly functional and superbly located for Newcastle's night life and railway station. Road access is a trifle awkward due to local one way systems and parking is not what it might be. Staff were polite if not very pro-active. Having been told that my room was "room only" rather than B&B it would have been good policy to have tried to interest me in the hotel breakfast...a lost opportunity for them. A bit more attention to detail would have made this a break to remember.

Royal Station hotel The Hotel is Clean tidy and with in walking distance to a vast choice of restraunts and bars ,the staff where Helpful , there was parking provision to the rear of the hotel which was safe and secure , if returning to Newcastle i would use this hotel agian .

An old hotel with a lot of charm. Centrally located, next door to the main train station.

Nice room, good leisure facilities but very noisy. Stayed when weather was warm and due to the lack of air conditionning wehad no choice but to open our window which let all of the noise from the hen and stag partys waft up to our room. Disappointing as I especially asked them for a quiet room.Restaurant smelled very strongly of fish, which was a little offputting when we went for a drink in the bar.

This is a very convenient hotel if you do not know the area as there are excellent signs to the main station from the outskirts of Newcastle. It is a pleasant walk to the shops. The hotel has kept much of the old, original quaintness and yet the rooms are well appointed for the price. We were warned that there were parties on around the time of our stay and yet, apart from a few doors banging during the night, we were not disturbed by undue noise. We paid the extra for a superior room and felt it was value for money. We would certainly use this hotel again and would recommend it to others.

Royal Station Hotel Newcastle; on the right linesThis is a hotel that really delivers on its promises. We stayed for 2 nights and were lucky enough to secure free parking outside the back door. Room was clean and modern, bathroom enormous! Staff were great. We loved the environment and were only sorry we had left our gym and swimming kit at home! Perfect location for access to the town centre.

Ok for a couple of nights stopover but...Hotel is tired and noisy (because of the proximity to the mainline station) and the rooms are lacking air conditioning. The windows only open about 2 inches. The rooms are not serviced very early and often you can get back to your room at 3pm to find it still unserviced.

Excellent valueLoved the leisure facilities. Room was noisy at the front of the hotel. Would definately stay their again but ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. Good central location for the City and right next to the station. Superb value.

I have stayed a number of times and the hotel is nice but unluckily there seemed to be a number of stag/hen groups staying that weekend and some bright spark set the fire alarm off at 6 oclock in the morning! The room was in a good condition but was too hot, there was no air conditioning and the window was very hard to open! I probably will stay there again some time but it may not now be top of the list as far as Newcastle is concerned.

Consistent serviceI have stayed at the Royal Station now several times on business. It is in the process of some re furbishment and in places is a little shabby but the service more than makes up for that. Rooms that are closest to the station are sometimes a little noisy when window open but it is convenient when travelling bt train.

Terrible - Bedroom windows would not open. Room like a furnace. Bad smell in lift. Breakfast ok.

Victorian and modern influences brought together in a successful way. Hotel has true character compared to modern blocks. Compact but practical sports centre including a swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff were friendly and very helpful. My room and bathroom were both very spacious, well-equipped and clean. It was quiet and peaceful and the bed was very comfortable. The decor on the walls was dull and the television only offered five channels. The restaurant served a satisfying brasserie-style supper on Sunday evening when I arrived, and there was a good range of food for breakfast each day.

Royal Station Hotel fit for a QueenThis is a magnificent old hotel, which is grand inside. The only bad thing is the decoration in public areas, which although smart, is in appalling taste. The hotel has wifi in every room, there is a very good gym, and the room decor is pretty good. Rooms at the back overlooking the station seem quieter than the ones at the front. I really like this place for its grandeur. My third stay in 3 months, and the first time I tried the restaurant, where the food was good and reasonably priced.

Decent city centre hotelHotel was fine for one night, the room was small but well equipped, and staff were helpful. Great location moments away from the station.

Not the best stayHotel needs modernisation, best thing about it is location. Had a room on the 4th floor which desperately needs double glazed. Bin men were round at 6:15am, heard everything, beer trucks were round 10mins behind them, again heard everything. Stayed here before and had a much better room. Hotel was busy, the small car parks were full, paid £14 to park £84 to stay 1 night (breakfast was extra), a bit over the top. Staff were pleasant and friendly.
